I don't suppose on the off chance someone might recognize this carver .. ?

This is all I know about the pic..

where did you get the pic, it might be from a Jade exhibition, if that is the case, its just a demo, I don't think is there any workshop still working on the old tools.

I was thinking this carver was a full time carver using old school tools..  Now I realize these tables were set up at some kind of show or demonstration.  Not that I was leading in thinking this lapidary was making fakes, but the best fakes today are made by replicating the effect of these old hand tools.

I am just sort of putting together some info on how to tell the difference when we examine our gemstone bottles.

I was told if the craftman lower down the power tool's speed ,they can pretty much replicate the old lapidary .
