Sharing a  bottle I acquired recently.

False signed Zhou le yuan but painted by Gui XiangGu.

http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20309/lot/12/

Here is a comparison I did with THE MARY AND GEORGE BLOCH COLLECTION: PART V Lot 12, The two qiaos theme is very similar which is quiet different with Ma shaoxuan's two Qiao's theme.

Any comments are welcome.

This is a very nice bottle Steven.   It confirms that the one I posted recently with the Crane on one leg was indeed also painted by him.  The calligraphy style is identical although you can not tell from the pictures in the link...

Very nice acquisition.   The comparison really confirms that he is the author and is more detailed, especially the faces, but I still like yours too!  I particularly like the description of how Gui varied the Qiao sister theme in his compositions as compared to Ma.

Thanks Pat and YT,

My camera didn't do well on catching the details, the painting is much more sharp in live, but I do agree the Painting on Bloch is more detailed than mine.Smiley

-Dear YT,

Maybe the Qiao sister was having a cold that day and running nose.Smiley

Cheers!

Dear Pat,

Zhou Yu must have something to do with that red nose  Tongue

Dear Steven,

Background is entirely different so painting style slightly differs too.
Can see the hairdo covered with pearls just show that they are in the imperial court and protocol forbids them to dress down. Your bottle portrays a natural surrounding.

The folds in their clothes are similar.

Cheers,

The hairdo also covered with pearls on my bottle, it just doesn't shows up. I guess I need to take a photo against dark background, and try post it again.Smiley

Dear Steven,

Very nice bottle, though your example doesn't have as red a nose as the left hand one in the comparison. that one has an all red nose, not just an outline.

    Well done!
Best,
Joey
