Dear Eric,

That looks more like what I think of as tourmaline. It looks like a very sweet little bottle. Is it well hollowed? What is the subject ? It is a bit hard to tell.
Best,
Joey

Dear Giovanni,

I think you are right: it is a melon or fruit form pebble bottle.
Well spotted.
Best,
Joey

Yes, the way the base is carved suggests it is a melon or similar fruit.

Nice looking tourmaline - does it display good dichroism? When held up to a light and slowly turned around, there should be almost no light transmission when viewed 'end on'.

Dear Eric,

I didn't notice the butterfly. That confirms it is indeed a melon!
I have an amethyst bottle which is melon shaped with a butterfly.
