At an auction this bottle has been described as painted with a “strange fish between two waves”. How they can be so ignorant? It is more than clear that it is a clam! Grin Grin Grin Grin

you see by the smiling icons that I knew that. I was expecting other suggestions, who knows, a red devil maybe? Grin

Dear Giovanni,

How did the auction house date this obviously modern enamelled porcelain?
Ca.1990-2010?
Best,
Joey

Dear Giovanni,

I knew that you knew... Hahahahaa

From the picture with the luck-hk seller name. I used to always looked at his shop in EBay.
This bat bottle is still selling for 26.99 now and described as a bat motif and dated post 1940.

A buyer must have put this bottle up at a small auction house and change the description to mislead bidders.

Cheers,
YT

Dear YT, may be I saw it on ebay indeed, I really don't remember. May be someone informed the seller that it is a bat.
Anyway, it happens often here that snuff bottles are described as being perfume bottles.
Kind regards

Dear Giovanni,

I can wholeheartedly understand your feeling now. The amount of bottles that we looked through in the Internet is tremendous. I don't think I remember 10% of it. The use of the screen shot option in the phone is easy but almost always SS the photo and not the details.

Cheers,
YT
