I've never heard of 'Charoite'.
Thank you for posting the bottle.

Charoite is from Russia. Its been mined out, maybe 10 years ago or more. I suspect that this would be expensive today.

The mineral is stunning, and the dark green Jadeite stopper is a beauty as well.
Thank you,
Joey

Some time ago, I posted how nice it would be to see some truly interesting minerals used to make bottles.. You have a great selection of special mineral example.

Here are a few I would like to see used..

I've never heard of 'Charoite'.

Dear Joey,

I talk about Charoite in an article on Mongolian snuff bottles which I wrote for the JICSBS a couple of years ago. It is a most unusual stone, which comes only from a particular region of Siberia.

Dear Tom,

Whoops! Me bad.  Roll Eyes   Grin
I meant to read your article when I was in Ireland, where I have all my Journals.

I really should return them to Israel, since I'm here 3/4 of the year. But here in my Jerusalem study, I've limited shelf space, and need my info on guiding in Israel, on Israeli archaeology, and my snuff bottle material, close at hand.

In my Irish study, I have a built-in bookcase the size of a large door (since it was a door opening before!), 7 ft. tall by 4 ft. wide, and 20 inches deep.  But if I move my Religious stuff (prayer books, Bibles, etc.) to a different bookcase, I've place for my Journals here.

   Best,
Joey
