You don't have to worry about that anymore. This material is not legal in most parts of the world. Most of these kinds of bottles were made years ago. It seems people at galleries are selling these for less than $1000, but back when I got this one, it was not that cheap. I think the fact the material is not acceptable makes the price go down. I personally like mammoth ivory bottles, but you need a good carver. That will cost money.

Welcome to the Forum.

That Hornbill ivory bottle is modern (ie. ca. 1960 - 2000).  A little OTT for my taste.

I prefer the early 19th C. examples, like the one I bought last week in Paris from the Servier Collection,  in Paris; and prior to that from the Edward C. O'Dell collection in Baltimore MD. It is illustrated in the O'Dell Collection Catalogue, from 1982.
Or the examples from the Joe Grimberg Collection of Singapore...
