Hi All :

Just received this bottle.... I am not sure if the material is actually called "Sea Spray" Amethyst... but its a rarer form of amethyst according to some website that I read.... Any comment appreciated... Thanks

Hi Pin,

I have always liked this type of amethyst. Congratulations - a great find! The fine net-like pattern is usually referred to as 'sea spray', as you correctly say. But I suspect there is a better and more poetic description for it in Chinese.

It looks very similar to a bottle from the Meriem Collection, sold by Christie's a few years ago, and another sold by Asiantques of Florida.

Can you say how tall it is?

Height about 6.6cm without stopper

Longest Breath about 5.8cm from handle to handle

Thickness is about 2.6cm

Pin,

I agree with all sentiment above, another great example of a 'sea spray' bottle.   I'm in the same position as Steven, been looking at these types of bottles for years, bidding, and so far not one has found its way into my collection.  Congratulation on landing this beautiful bottle and thanks for sharing your new acquisition.

     I thought that too, but if you look at the edges where the material is thicker, there is a definite pale purple tinge.
