Hi All :

Zhang Yong has shown me a bottle that he painted recently with his new painting technique after he got some inspirations when he visit his teacher

The title of the bottle is "Brave Heart" .... basically to say that he need to be brave to experiment with new techniques that he is not familiar with in order to improve and move beyond where he is right now

Any comments are always welcome........  Wink

Dear Pin,

Is this a continuous landscape?

Feels more sad than brave.

Cheers,

Dear YT,
Yes, the horse or donkey looks quite dispirited. But still a beautiful bottle.
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey,

It is nice and I would said it as a brave attempt by Zhang Yong.

A wolf looks to be on the first pic and a horse on the second.

Cheers,
YT

Dear YT,

I saw the animal on the first pic to be a horse, seen at a great distance from behind and just to its left, so the body is foreshortened.
But I can see that you may be correct, though with the head angled towards the left, it still looks like an equine profile.
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey,

I was just thinking of the story line if the bottle is drawn in a continuous landscape and having two horses.
You are correct, it does looked like a horse on second glance.

Cheers,

Dear YT,

I actually think it would have been better without the horse on the reverse, and just the view of the horse (or wolf?) from a great distance.
Best,
Shabbat Shalom,
Joey

Hi Peter :

I have never met ZY personally..... just thru emails.

Occasionally he will ask me on my opinion on the bottles that he has painted.

A little more on this bottle..... ZY says that one side of the bottle represent his teacher, who is sick for 10 years and has not been painting since, but his enthusiasm towards art and esp IP has never dwindle and is still coaching and encouraging his students and the next generation of artist (I think this is the side with the smaller horse)

The brave heart side represent himself trying to break through to the next level.

Hi Pin

Very interesting that  you  in touch  by email  with  Zhang Yong  (or  Da  Yong as  he  normally  calls  himself)
I know  him  very well  and I regard  him as  one of the  most  influential   VMIPB  artists  today  in Hengshui .

He's  also one  of  the  most  likable - indeed "lovable /  fun-loving"    artists  I know   Cheesy

He  has a  bewildering number  of  different  styles , and a  lot  of  devotee   students  who have now  gone   on to becoming  mature  artists  in their  own  right ( e.g  Zhang  Limin = "Mr  Spiderman"  who   has  joined   the  new  Qin School in Xian)

I have  posted  some  additional  info  in the  private  section  for  log-in members

Cheers

Peter

PS:  If it's not  asking too much  of  you  - could  you  please  forward to me  privately to my  own  email  address any  emails Zhang Yong sends  you  which  include his latest  pics  of  bottles  ?  I have not  been to  Hengshui  for  over  one  year  and   am now  a  little  out  of  contact  with the  artists  there.
