I just want to extend my Sincerest Condolences to all our Forum members from Singapore,
on the death of Lee Kuan Yew, the Father of Independent Singapore.

He was a great man, who protected his people from being swallowed up by Indonesia or Malaysia, preserving this mainly ethnic Chinese enclave as a free entity, with equal rights for all people of all races, religions and ethnicities.

Sadly, looking at the treatment of non-Moslems and non-Malays in the two neighbouring countries, we know what a great thing he did, and how he saved millions of Chinese Singaporeans from persecution, etc. He also gave an example to his region of respect for others. Hopefully Malaysia and Indonesia will eventually learn from his sterling example.

May his memory be for a blessing.

Best Wishes,
  Joseph Baruch Silver

Dear Joey,

Nicely written and heartfelt.

May his spirit, desire and wishes stay strong in that country. Not to be forgotten but to be rekindled by his passing.

Sincerely,
David

Dear David,

Thank you. On my first visit to Singapore, in 1978, I was hosted for Kosher meals by a family of Jews who'd settled in Singapore in the early 1950s, the Khafis. They were very appreciative of the reception they'd received from the government and people.

   Best,
    Joey

Thank you Joey.

Mood in the entire country is sombre and all events cancelled as we are in the third day of the week-long mourning.

Multi-racial harmony was firmly set and strictly enforce till date as LKY faced racial discrimination in his earlier days.

Best Regards,
YT
