Where I am in China

Hi All

Go to  Google  earth  and   type  in address : (cut-n-paste)

Dongfengcun , Yueqing Shi, Wenzhou

You  should  see  a   red  location   blob   near the  corner  of 3  rivers

Just to  south-west  of the  blob  you  will  see   two    sort  of  double-H  type grey  things   with a   white  base leading   south-east .  These  are   two   29-story   tower  blocks   seen  slightly   from one  side (hence  you  can see  one  side  = the   white base)

We  live  near the   top  of the   far  right hand  side  HH  corner

Pan  back a  bit  and  you  will see  some  green  hills  to the  north-east :  this is  a  rocky outcrop   which  goes  up to  1,000   feet  and  is  my  morning   walk along the   top  ridge.
If  you   focus   down  on the  sides  of the    ridge  you  will  see   hundreds  of  U-shaped  grey  things  - these  are  Chinese   grave  sites

Your post reminded me of the visit my wife and I made to Liushi in Wenzhou a number of years ago. we visited our friends ( a yound couple whom we befriended when they lived in Kunming ). Liushi was a hub for various electrical appliances and assessories. Because of power rationing, every small shop had a portable generator to standby ( rather interesting sight ). The ladies in Liushi were fantastic drinkers of beers and hard liqour ! Wenshou people are very friendly and generous hosts !
We also went to Yueqing city nearby where our friends relatives lived.
Of course, Wenzhou city itself was quite an experience. We had coffee in a western cafe along the seafront.

I  have    finally  managed  to  set  up  a  very  personal      and  non  quiet  way   in  china        but  it   works  max   30  mins  at  a  time   so I can   at  last  use  the   forum  while  in  China  (just !)

Yes  Liu Shi  -  and  indeed   the   whole  of   Wenzhou   is  THE  center  of   electric   switches,  transformers   etc   e.g     CHiNT !

The  people  here  are  both wonderful ...  and   crazy  when  it  comes  to   drinking
