Hi All

As mentioned in another thread, here are some works by Song Yiming (Da Cheng).

This first bottle is a natural quartz bottles with green dust-like inclusions which the artist used them to form the leaves of the tree. He just added the tree trunk and the branches with some flying birds. The other side is painted with a deer standing on a rock with a waterfall in the background. The bottom with a patch or greyish green inclusion.

Signed and dated 2012.

Enjoy!

Richard

Hi Richard,

Outstanding mastery of the natural inclusions to create the scenes. A wonderful bottle!

Hi All

Thanks for your comments.

Here is another cylindrical bottle painted by Song Yiming in 2007. Painted with two dragons chasing a flaming pearl in black ink with two red seals.

Enjoy!

Hi All

This is the latest work by Song Yiming painted a few days ago.

The photos show the bottle before and after the painting. The other side of the bottle cannot be painted as it is all covered by the white inclusion.

Enjoy!

Richard,

I like the dragon IBP, but this last one is absolutely wonderful and a must have.  If you ever run across one like this in the future for sale, let me know.  I saw this bottle and it was an immediate chuckle and a smile from ear to ear.

Richard,

Thanks for sharing the latest bottle, a rather creative work by Song.
I share the same reaction as Charll.

Hi Richard,

George took the word out of my mouth: 'CUTE' was the first thought that ran through my mind. It is also creative, inventive, artistic.

Hi All

Thank you for all your compliments!

Yes, this is a fine example of creativity and how the artistic subject can blend in nicely with the natural material.

Regards.

Dear Richard,
I believe I oohed and aahed over this bottle (the tree using the inclusions, the reverse with a stag standing proud on a cliff) in your home in November. Wonderful use of the inclusions. Thank you for enabling me to see it again.
Shabbat Shalom,

Hi Joey

Thanks for your comment.

However, I believed you are referring to the snow leopard bottle instead of this one as this squirrel bottle is just completed by Song Yiming a few days ago. In fact, the bottle is still with him and is still available. Anyone interested can email me privately if you wish.

The snow leopard bottle is painted by Da Yu (Ma Baoku) and shared the same characteristic as it is also painted in a very limited space.

Regards.

Richard

Dear Richard,
    Sorry for the mistake.
However, I saw so many wonderful bottles on my whirlwind tour of collections in Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok and Singapore, and then in Warminster and in Salisbury. But I was sure I'd seen it or at least something like it, somewhere.
After Shabbat, I will contact Song Yiming, G-D Willing. I love the tree on the front, and the stag on the reverse.
Shabbat Shalom,
   Joey

Hi Joey

No worries.

I can understand the confusion after seeing so many bottles!  Grin

For your information, the first 2 bottles, the tree and the dragon bottle have already been sold. Only the snow squirrel bottle is available as this is his latest work.

He has another quartz bottle that I think is still available. I attach the photos for your reference.

Feel free to contact me should you need more details.

Regards.

Dear Richard,
Thank you, but I was referring to the first bottle, where he used the green inclusions as leaves, painting just the tree trunk and the few birds flying in the background. I wondered that you wrote it was newly finished, when the info said 'painted 2012'.
    We had a mutual misunderstanding.
I have modified my first post to refer to the bottle I meant.  I find the squirrel one too claustrophobic, and the one you posted last, equally so.
Best Wishes,
Shabbat Shalom,
Joey

Hi Joey

Sorry if I do not make myself clear.

The tree bottle in my first post is painted in 2012 and has already been sold.

The squirrel bottle is his recent work completed a few days ago and is still available.

Dear Richard,

I think the mixup was mainly on my side.
Do you know the oft-stated argument of collectors that their personal example is the best one known?   Grin
Well, it is also well known that collectors understand what they want to understand, when they covet another example. I REALLY wanted that bottle with the tree making use of the green inclusions as leaves, so I understood that it was available. Sadly, my wishing it so didn't make it so.

Mrs. Lilla Perry, in her wonderful book, describes losing out on a bottle she sorely wanted, and expresses the belief that the objects we desire will come our way, if we hope strongly enough for them.
A sort of early Californian 'Creative Visualization' program (those really started in the 1970s and 1980s, and her book was published in 1960). If I remember correctly, she later got the object of her desires, a Guyuexuan bottle.

When I went crazy over Charll's 2 Panda bottles by Wei Jianchao, which he posted on the Forum in Feb.2012, and then even more so when I saw them 'live' in Oct.2012, I decided I must have one or even two. In Feb. 2014, while visiting my dear friend Rick, who is on the Forum, I got that object of my heart's desire. A superb Wei Jianchao Panda, with orchids on the reverse! And then, another one from David Osborne.

I'd love to know who has this bottle now, and if it can be acquired.
So much for my firm decision to collect only all-calligraphy examples for a while!  Wink   Grin
Best,
 Joey
