     It may well be called 'Ink Jade' in Chinese. You've certainly described it well.

 Grin If I have a piece of true black ink jade that big with clear cut white pattern, then I can sell it at Sotheby's and bid at Sotheby's for a handful of low/mid bottles!

No wonder you were upset when you saw it.
