It might well be. I recognise 'Ye', but not the following two characters. It could also be Ye Shuying, or Ye Bengqi. Or it could be modern. Steven or Richard or Inn Bok (a pity Walter is not on! He could also easily identify it) will have to give their opinion.

What I find interesting, is that the first side illustrates a Ma Shaoxuan subject, "The Buffalo Boy's Song", which I have in a cracked snuff bottle (#193 in WW) I received as a gift from the late Robert Kleiner, in 1998 at the ICSBS Seattle Convention, when I purchased 15 bottles out of the White Wings catalogue.
Actually,  so is the painting on the reverse, 'resting the shoulders', showing a man with a 'biandan' (carrying stick or pole with two baskets), the baskets full of flowering plants (see Worlds in a Bottle, A-25, pp.70,71).
  Best,

Hi Joey & Yi Ping

The calligraphy appeared to be poorly written and I suspect that this is a modern copy.

I have seen Ye Xiaofeng's bottle before that and his signature was always nicely written.

For your reference.

Regards.

Hi Pin,

Do you own the bottle? How tall its? I suspected it a very small bottle.

And I will vote it as a Genuine Ye Xiaofeng bottle, everything looks right  except the signature is not perfectly done as Richard pointed out, but if its a very small bottle, it can be explained.

Hi Steven :

I don't own the bottle.... Yes, I think it's really a tiny bottle... It's only 2&1/8 inches tall only.. Probably slightly smaller than usual....

Dear Giovanni,
It certainly looks like quartz to me.
To all,
At just under 54 mm. (53.975mm, to be more exact) it is small, but not so small that the artist couldn't have done his signature well, in my opinion.
It seems 'right' to me, but I don't know...

I have searched quite a bit, and for the life of me I can not match the style of these paintings to any Ye Xiaofeng examples..

Not to mention, that to be honest, I just do not see the hand of any Ye family member on this bottle..  Most evident, the buffalo, tree, and branches..  We should see more similarities of these from Ye Xiaofeng, as he really took after his Fathers painting style..

Ye Xiaofeng started out excelling as a landscape artist, but then did begin to do fish and animals at a later date..

Just my two cents from what I have been able to find..

Pin,

I was pouring through some of my references tonight and found two bottles with a similar theme as the calligraphy side of the bottle you purchased.  The theme is Maihua tu "Picture of the Flower Peddler" as illustrated by a bottle in the Collection of Susan B. Hacker and another in the Monimar Collection.  Both bottles are by, and it appears to have been a common theme, of Ma Shaoxuan.

George,
For 'The Flower Peddler', you can also illustrate my A-25 from "WORLDS".
For  'Buffalo Boy's Song', you can illustrate #193 from "White Wings" (Kleiner Family Collection; 1998); it is now in my collection, a gift from the late Robert Kleiner.
Best,
  Joey

Dear George,
Thank you for posting my bottle from "Worlds".
Does anyone have "White Wings" (the late Robert Kleiner's catalogue of his family's collection, when they were selling it in 1998), who could post #193 from it?
Best,
  Joey

Hi All :

This bottles just came a few days ago and these are some of the pictures that I took........
The bottle is a size smaller than usual and its quartz with some inclusions.

At an angle.......You can see that theres a natural crack in the quartz from the picture below and the artist tried to paint the tree branch along that crack to camouflage it (show up as bright blue thick line along the top of the main tree branch) .... same thing he did to hide part of the inclusions in the bottle with the secondary tree branches
(crack starts from bottom right corner of the pic to somewhere at the middle of the pictures around the head level of the man....... then theres a string of inclusion, white smoky line, that starts there and moves to somewhere near the top right corner of pic)

Overall, quite nice bottle and pictures of the man selling flowers looks quite 3D esp when you see if thru a magnifying glass....
