This quartz bottle is currently on eBay.  Not sure if it's a good one but the insect caught my eye.  The top looks like those on some of the newer bottles.

Hi Brad,

This is a clear quartz with black tourmaline needles, commonly referred to as 'hair crystal'. Nicely carved insect. Not an old bottle.....could have been made anytime in the last 40 years, but quite collectible, if the price is right and you are not looking for an antique.

Nice indeed.   My guess is that it will fetch $150 - $250...

It does look nice.  I like the look of the needles.  How do we tell that it is not an antique?  Would it have any kind of mark?  Or does the fact that it is carved give it away?

Yes, I saw this one to Brad..

If your thinking of bidding on it, maybe ask the seller for a focused image of the carved insect... It appears to be pretty roughly carved from what can be seen in the images provided..

It would bother me if in fact the carver did such a poor job with the insect on such a nice piece of quartz..  It also looks a bit rough around the lower edge of the panel that the insect rests on..

Dear Brad,

I was first attracted by this seller's other bottle. The clear quartz with carving. Some of the impurities looks like gold strand, looks beautiful in picture.

Cheers,
