Hi All :

Saw 2 bottles on the internet. I think that the painting esp the deer is quite nicely painted. They might not be as fine as the the early Qing, QianLong, period, but still nicely done IMO

Also, the bottle that has the deer painting has a very flat bottom.... any reason so ? What would be the est period of these bottles

Thanks a lot

Hi Pin,

Both are very modern bottles, let's say, no more than 20 year old.

Both are very well painted, if you don't mind the age, those two are still  collectible IMO, especially the right porcelain one.

The one on left seems has a raised foot to me.

Hi Pin,
Nothing I can really add to what Steven and George have said. Both nicely painted. I also like the right-hand bottle best, despite the spurious base mark.

Steven,
You are correct - the left bottle has got a raised foot. I think what Pin means is that the base inside is not recessed to leave a foot rim.

Hi Pin,

You are taking a very sensible approach - learn first, buy later.
It's a lesson all new collectors should follow, but very rarely do !!!  Smiley

Yup wise words and wise approach... I don't even want to think about the 'schooling and training money' spent in the first few years buying the wrong things.  If only I had put that money in books/catalogues and ICSBS membership.
