Richard shared this one on Facebook.. Could not help but post it here ..

Sometimes a bottle is shared that I especially like.. The colors, bottle shape, overall a super cool older bottle.

Hi Pat

The agate bottle probably is quite old but the painting is by Su Fengyi, an artist from the Ji School. It is signed but not dated.

The bottle is very well hollowed carved with mock lion rings on both sides.

This is the painting on other side of the bottle.

Hi  All

I have  met  Su Fengyi   a  few  times, and  visited  his  home in Shanghai. Very friendly  person, and he  helped  me  make some  early contacts  in Hengshui.  He  is  probably the  first  artist  to  take up  dealing as  well as  painting ,  and if  you  look in the   ICSBS    member's  handbook  you  will see him listed as a  dealer. Also  he  makes the  effort to  join all the   ICSBS  international  conventions ( no joke  going to  cold, wet  Ireland in  autumn ! ) .  Last  time  I met  him  was in  HK in mid 2010 : there  was a big  Chinese  art   fair / exhibition .  Lots  of  beautiful    stuff there, but  the  only modern  inside-painted   bottle   stand  was  that  of  Su Fengyi   ( there  were a  couple  of  other stands  with  antique   IPBs  and  other  types of  bottles)

He  started  painting   30  years  ago:  if  you  look  in   New Look   you   will see that J. H. Leung  met  him  in Hengshui  in 1985 , and   he  gets   quite a big mention in New  Look  as  one of the  upcoming Hengshui  artists , also  direct  pupil of  WXS

IMHO  some of his  best  bottles  were  painted in the  1990's.  There's  one  cataloge    by Clare  Chu  from that time  which is  in my data base with some   really beautiful  bottles  .

I have  one  bottle  painted  by  SFG   which I bought  the first  time I visited   his  home   about  3 years  ago ( interesting story).

Cheers, Peter
