Hi All :

Saw this YZS on auction and think its a fake........ what do you all think

Check the web and saw a YeZhongSan bottle (suppose to be in a museum) on the same subject,凤阳士人... (at least on one side of the bottle) that has a man on a white horse/donkey and 2 ladies.

Any opinion....... thanks a lot

Pin,

I'm far from being very knowledgeable in Middle Period and Early-Late Period interior painted bottles.  But this one to me at least looks right, and appears to be of period for Ye Zhongsan.  The style, details, color palette used, and the bottle shape appear to be correct.  However the painting does appear be faded, likely from someone displaying it where it got a little sun.  Others here who have more knowledge and knows the calligraphy better than I will have to confirm my hunch.

Hi Pin..

Finally, someone has posted a bottle !  Been a bit quiet..

Here are a few "known" Ye Family bottles with similar themes..  I can not decide if the one you shared is a false signed Ye Family bottle or not..  I will cast my vote that it is legitimate, but I do not think it is Ye Zhongsan Sr..  The signature and script do appear to be good too..

Dated 1906

Dated 1908

Hi All :

Thanks for all the information...

I tot it was a pretty good fake after looking at those examples on the web as they looked much more elaborated!!! Although I agree that the calligraphy was nice and proper..... I only bid $50 on the bottle and obviously was kicked out .... Hahaha

Thanks for all the sharing.....
