Obtained at auction in Auckland, from a privare New Zealand collection. Height minus jet stopper is 63 mm. Claimed age at auction of 19C

Peter,

I liked this one even more than the melon-shaped jet bottle you just posted on another thread. The basket weave is very tricky to carve well, due to the 3-dimensional geometric precision needed. I would date this one to early-to-mid 1800s.

Thanks Tom for the estimated date. The auction description was auctually 18/19 C. It is my favourite jet snuff bottle.
