How about we show one of our most amusing snuff bottles to give us all a smile. I will start of with this little bone one.....not old, not valuable...but gives me a smile each time I look at him. The little mouse is contendedly eating his cheese, knowing the owl cant catch him while he's sitting on his head! Grin

Hey Brenda, quite a cute bottle. Even though it a modern bottle the detail looks darn good.  This one ranks high on my smile scale.  Thanks for sharing, Charll

Dear Brenda,
I like the concept, that the stopper is part of the 'story'. Cute! Thank you for posting it.

Hi Joey....I like the quirky sense of humour....it makes you wonder how they think up these things! Cheesy I hope some more are shown here.
Cheers, Brenda

Dear Brenda,
If you like 'quirky' you should look at Japanese netsuke! I saw one in ivory, 18th C., from the 'shanga' subject (erotic?), of a Japanese woman pearl diver enwrapped in an octopus' tentacles. He was not 'hurting' her; the opposite was the situation, with the look of ecstasy on her face. Talk about 'quirky'.  Cheesy
Best,
 Joey

Yes Joey I have seen those type of netsuke  Cheesy the Japanese sense of humour is often shown in netsuke and okinomo which is one of the reasons why I wondered if this bottle could be Japanese.
Cheers, Brenda

Brenda,

I wonder if your owl + mouse carving originated from the Popdeluxe
store from Madison, Wisconsin.
