Has anyone ever seen a mother or table type bottle in porcelain before ?

Wonder if this might be a possible candidate at 5 1/2 " tall...

George,

From what I have read, it was not uncommon for snuff users during the Qing dynasty to keep a larger bottle of their favourite mix on the table at home, for offering to guests. The one you have illustrated follows the general design principles of the smaller, more mobile bottles, so there is every possibility that it was used in just that way.

Of course, it could equally well have been used to hold some other medicinal substance.

Thanks Tom... I am adding a pic of the neck/mouth, and then ask if safe to eliminate this as a possible vase..

Dear George,
I have never seen something like that. The shape is highly unusual. All in all I think that it is not old. Can you show the base?
Kind regards
Giovanni

Dear George,
what is pointing toward a phantasy piece is the mix of Ming reminiscences with early Qing and late Qing styles. It is a modern piece to me.
Kind regards
Giovanni

Dear Giovanni,
You totally threw me with references to "the mix of Ming reminiscences with early Qing and late Qing styles"!
I'm impressed, but don't understand which parts of the design are Ming, which are early Qing, and which are late Qing. And could this not have been done in late Qing, combining elements of earlier styles together?
I ask out of ignorance, not in challenge to your statement.
Best,
 Joey
