Dear All

The Singapore Chinatown Snuff Bottle Society together with the other snuff bottle societies in the region will be organising an Asia Regional Snuff Bottle Exhibition in Singapore from 11 to 15 Dec 2014. The venue will be in Sentosa island.

Besides local collectors, there will be collectors and dealers from China and Taiwan participating in the show. There will be also a few inside painters from China who will be present at the event. One of them is Master Lu Jianguang and other artists from Hebei province.

You are all invited to the event!

For your information and reference.

Regards.

Thanks for the information Richard!

Will there be any talks, a venue schedule, and so on?
Do you have to be a member to participate?

Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom & Peter

You are most welcome to the event! The event is free and there is no admission fee (except for the admission to Sentosa Island itself).

And no, you need not be a member to participate.

However, for those who wish to exhibit or deal, there is a special package arrangement: A glass showcase will be provided at SGD 600 for the entire period, and if you wish, that is also a hotel package at SGD 1,500 for 5 nights accomodation at Sentosa, including the showcase as well.

However, as reservations are on a first-come-first-served basis, booking has to be make in advance by end of this month. As December is a peak holiday season, this is the requirement by the hotel to ensure a confirmed booking.

For your reference.

Regards.

If you deduct SGD 600 for the showcase rental, that's SGD 900 for 5 nights (SGD 180 /night) at the hotel on Sentosa. Sounds like a good deal to me!

Of course, you may not be interested in the showcase...

Hi Tom

Yes, it's quite a reasonable deal for those who intend to exhibit during the event.

Richard,

It depends on the size of the showcase. We can consider sharing one with exhibits from 3 - 4 of us. Oversea guest can stay in the
hotel on Sentosa at S$ 180 / night which is very reasonable ??

Hi All

Just an update on the coming exhibition in Singapore in December:

There is a change in the venue due to security and accessibility issue. The exhibition will now be held at the Kreta Ayer Community Club, right in Chinatown itself instead of Sentosa Island.

The nearest hotel is Dorsett Hotel, a new 4-star hotel which just opened for business in 2013 located near the Outram Park MRT Statiion. Of course there are also many smaller hotels nearby to choose from.

For your information.

Regards.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the update. Does the SGD 1,500 / 5-night package deal still apply?

Hi Tom

Yes, but the hotel has been changed to Dorsett Hotel.

By the way, the application for the exhibition is closed due to overwhelming response and limited showcases but all visitors are welcome! (free access)

Regards.

Hi All

An update for the upcoming exhibition in December.

Please be informed that the exhibition is opened to the public only from 12 Dec onward till 15 Dec 2014. 11 Dec (Thu) is reserve for the exhibitors to set up their displays and will not be opened for visitors.

Here is the number of participants:

Singapore - 14
Taiwan      -  6
Beijing      -  2
Shanghai  -   2
Zhejiang   -   2
Donghai    -   2
Nanchang  -   2
Heibei       -  16

I recently joined a snuff bottle private chat group and confirmed that the following inside painting artists will be attending:

Dong Yue
Su Fengyi
Lu Jiangguang
Yi Ding (Rui Zhi)
Li Yingtao

This is a very active chat group with artists, collectors, dealers and auction houses staff in it. Unfortunately, it is a private group and all current interactions are only in Chinese.

I will update everybody should I have more information.

Regards.

Richard,

Thank you for sharing the pictures.  They help me from two perspectives,

1) I'm always trying to get a gauge in quality on the higher end or exceptional IP bottles being produced today as often refereed by Peter.  Being in the U.S., it seems there is a delay with these items or literature reaching the collectors outside of China.  Yes the are catalogs, but I only see about one a year.   By the time I see such promotion catalogs the bottles have long since been spoken for and sold.

2) Also appreciate you putting a name to the faces in the pictures.  I much prefer the snuff bottle 'avatar' used in posting IDs for message recognition on the Forum than having someone's face staring at me as I read the various posts.  But it is also nice to have an image of an individual in my head when addressing posts and/or making a reference to someone. So thank you for providing the names in a manner so it is understood "who is who".

My youngest son, Skylar, is coming home today from college for Christmas break.  I've had his room tore up for weeks now painting, cleaning, and freshening up its appearance, but now have to move everything back in.  So got to get back to it!
