George,
What is the occasion, Gay BBQ Day?!  Cheesy
I see the rainbow flag, and three BBQs made up to look like Ethel Merman in drag.
I'm confused...   Wink
Best,
  Joey

George,

My first take was that they looked just like over-sized snuff bottles. What a great idea!
It would have taken me a hundred years to see any resemblence to Ethel Merman.   Cheesy

Tom

PS: By the way, who is Ethel Merman?

I'm   very  disappointed   George  -  none  of them  are  inside  painted !

 Grin

Cheers
Peter

PS :  if  we   are  into   girlie  pics  I  guess  I better  pull  out a  few  inside  painted  ones.... the  attached  one  is  by  Ma  Baoku     from  CIPMA  -  the  original  bottle  I saw  at  his  home  in 2009  (it  was only  painted  on one  side)  :  it  must be  a  copy  from a  photo  of  a  Japanese   AV  idol  because  I have seen the same  pic  painted   at least  one  other  time by another  artist ,  but  can't  remember  where / when   ( I'm  surrounded  by too many  beautiful  girls  in  China,  my   supremely  beautiful  wife  for  one ! )

George,

I thought the mddle one looks like some walrus skin treated to look slightly brown, and the right one looks like brass bottle with chiselled surfaces !

Hi  Inn Bok

Just  to prove  I once  held  that bottle.....

From my  first ever visit to  an  artist's  home  :  Ma  Baoku's  home  in  3.2009

(Wish I know   who the   girl  is.... She  is  Japanese   and   I  did  once  have  her  Japanese  name  but  I lost  it :  She  is   quite  famous )

Cheers

Peter

Dear George,
You posted a pic of Ethel Merman in the 1930s or  so. In the 1960s/1970s she was a big 'zaftig' ('Rubenesque'?) Jewish 'broad' with a deep throaty voice, a sort of Jewish Mae West, who was beloved of 'drag queens'. She would belt out Yiddish and English songs in the 'Borscht Belt' (a group of Jewish owned and operated hotels in the Catskills west of NYC, where Jews would go, since we were banned as a group from the posher Gentile resorts in the Poconos. ). I saw her there in the late 1960s, the one time we went there for Passover at Grossinger's.
A classic joke about the Borscht Belt, is about 2 Jewish women talking about the food. One says, "The food is so bad here!" And the other says, "Yes, and the portions are so small, too!"   Grin
But the Rainbow flag made me add the 'Gay' comment.
