What a pleasure it is to meet enthusiasts of this miniature art form. I have a small collection of bottles formed over a number of years without truly understanding any of them! I will own up to having spent more on books than bottles.

Dear Hobbler (we'd REALLY prefer to have your first name, so we can address you properly),
    Welcome from me as well.
If you've spent more on books than on bottles at the start of your collecting, you are way ahead of most of us! That is a good way to learn, and make less mistakes (We ALL make mistakes!).
Best
Joey

Welcome on board Hobbler. You reminded me of when I started collecting.......for the first few months I only had one snuff bottle, but two books!  Smiley

Joey,
Do you mean my bottle collection, or my book collection?  Grin

Dear Tom,
Your snuff bottle collection! I don't collect general materials today, only the three types (nephrite jade, IPSB, and B & W porcelain), but your jet bottle, and many other of your plain bottles in assorted materials (smoky quartz, etc.) would tempt me to add them to the 17 assorted bottles I still have which are not from my three collecting types today.
Writing that, reminds me of the joke Jackie Mason told me, when we met over dinner, and he heard I was gay: " I'm gay too. But I don't go with all guys. Only Jewish men. And not all Jewish men, either. Just doctors or lawyers. And not just any doctors or lawyers either..."  Grin  Cheesy  Wink
I replied,"Unlike you, I like Gentile boys, but they have to be between 18 and 30, muscular and ruggedly good looking."
But if you want to see something funny, google, "All I want for Christmas is Jews", and "Oy, Holy Night".
Best,
 Joey
