Giovanni

I like it very much and would date it 1850 to 1880. Please let me know if you ever decide to part with it. Thank you.

China  is  truly a   wonderful   country  and   I'm  proud  to  be  one  little   adopted   westerner   into this  country

Best wishes   to you  all

Peter,
You are making quite a contribution to your adopted country, and are to be admired.
But are you saying that over 1.17 billion people are watching one program?!  Shocked
The mind boggles!!!
Shabbat Shalom,
Joey

Hi  Joey

Yes  I bet that  90%  of  China    watched  last night's    New  Year  Spectacular,  and   it  was  repeated  in full   this  morning  on   CCTV , which we  can  receive in   HK ( of  course)

China  is   THE  most  amazing  county   in the   world  ( with  perhaps the  single  exception  of  Israel )

I just  love  China .....     so much

Cheers
Peter

Peter,
China is the most amazing huge country, while Israel is the most amazing small country.  Grin

Hi Joey

I  will   drink to  that     statement

BTW  : I am  planning a  trip to Israel  in   2015  so  I hope  we  can meet  then

(Anyway  we  will  meet  in 2014     in HK / Xian /  BJ  ...  Hengshui  !)

Cheers
Peter

Hi All

A late  comment   about this  year's   Chinese  New  Year  " spectacular"  on CCTV (  Central  China   TV) ...

There  was  an  obvious  huge  effort  to  make  it   very  international,  with  both  Western  performing stars (also  stars  from Taiwan !) , and   even Western / Mandarin-speaking  hosts

The    whole    show  was  repeated   several  times  on CCTV

There  was  also  a   similar    show  sponsored  by  Red  Bull   that was  even  more  internationally- inclined

China  is  truly   reaching  out  to the   whole   world  for  understanding and acceptance.

The  news   about  China   which   you  usually  read  in the   West  is  usually  only the  'bad news"  because  "bad news"  makes   for  good  reading.

"Good  news"    is  usually   "NO  News"

But  what  happens  in China  -   one   quarter  of  the    world's  population   -  is  actually  GOOD news  ( except  that   the  good  news  never  makes  it to the   West)

Anyway... this   all   a   very  long  way  from   Snuff  Bottles.

But  they  are  all  CHINESE snuff  bottles    so I   think  I have some   right  to  push   the  Chinese  line

BTW :  It's  GREAT  to  have  Mike  in the   Forum   !  I'm certain he    will  contribute  a  lot

Cheers
Peter
