New member, thank you for accepting my request to join.
I am from the UK, East Coast and hope to learn more about Chinese snuff bottles.

I like collecting antiques, mostly Georgian silver, but I wish to extend my knowledge of antiques.

Dear Sir (I refuse to call anyone 'misfit'; even in jest),
You are most welcome. Could you please give us a name to refer to you by? It will make things much easier all around.
 Best,
   Joey

Hi Joey

An avatar is an image associated with your identity.

In this case, it is a picture that you chose with your ID. If you see the left column of each posting, you will see a picture below our names. For example, my avatar is a black & white jade bottle.

You can add your own avatar by clicking on  the Profile tab on the top row of the forum and select Forum Profile Information under Modify Profile on the left column.

For your reference.

Regards.

Many thanks Richard, Peter and George for the welcome.

Just so you know why I chose the avatar George (and thanks for liking it), being a dog owner and also (showing my age now!) I used to love watching Wacky Races when I was a kid Smiley and absolutely loved Mutley the dog character LOL

Dear Richard,
    Thank you for the explanation.

Dear Kaz,
What type of dogs? I used to breed Weimaraners, and have had a few Red Setters.

Joey I had a number of dogs over the years, mainly rescue, so they tend to be mixed breeds or as sometime known over in the UK as heinz 57's

My current dog is a Labrador cross Border Collie and is now 11½ years old.

I like Weimaraners, lovely dogs, there is one named Benson on the local park we go to, I think he is about 6 - 7 years old now, he has a lovely temperament and very friendly.

Thank you Pat for the welcome.

Dear Kaz,
Most Weimaraners do have wonderful temperaments, but if you ever want to meet a dog who is downright gentle, find an Hungarian Vizsla. They are such gentle dogs, being yelled at will make them depressed.
A friend of mine in Ireland, where I have my summer place, yelled once at his 3 yr. old Vizsla, and he stopped eating! The owner ended up having him force-fed, and brought him to my place, where he hung out with my (then) 3 Weimaraners, and after a few weeks, he snapped out of his depression.
   Best,
      Joey

I have met a vizsla before, do not see too many though, lovely dogs they are, so friendly.

My dog always loves meeting people, has to go say "hello" to everyone and of course get a big fuss of everyone she meets. She loves my postman, he always makes a big fuss of her when we see him sometimes on a walk.
