Here is another bottle from the lot ..

One question I have is about Zuo. Apparently means painted by. Why does the the Sun Zhende bottle have both this Zuo, and also followed by yet another painted by character ?  Why are two painted by characters needed ?

A comparison bottle from Bill's site..

Not sure if I am just having a temporary problem loading Bill's page that would tell about Xing Rui, but for now, I have no information about this artist..

Well, I have absolutely no idea where to search within the DB..

My best guess was the "0 Artists Source  Reference Codes" folder, but no luck there, and I see nothing else that might apply..

Exactly which folder are you talking about ?

That simply tells me that Zuo means painted by..

I am trying to understand why the Sun Zhende bottle has two characters telling, painted by.

First the Zuo character, followed by yet again another painted by character.. Why is it necessary to say, painted by two times ?

Hi George

The  two   characters  you   ringed   are

Top :  DE    =     the  last part  of   Sun Zhen De's    孙 振 德  name

Bottom :   ZUO   作  =  "painted  by "

The  other   four  characters   refer  to the   date  when painted

You can    find  some   bottles  by Sun Zhende  in my  DB.  It  seems  he  specializes  in  copying  western  oil painting  scenes.

Jill  Guo Jie  sold a  few  bottles  by  him in  2009   at  about  US$ 800   each

Bill  Patrick  bought a  lot  of  his  bottles  ( check  Bill's  website)  and  I have a    western  landscape  bottle  by him  which I  bought  from Bill  Patrick  for   about  US$ 150  a  couple of  years  ago

Cheers
Peter
