Now this is small!!!!!!

A fossiliferous limestone bottle.  Very well hollowed with jade stopper.  Height is just 19 mm without stopper, and 16 mm wide.

Been working on cataloging bottles much of the day and thought I would just throw this one out there.  Grin Charll

Hi Charll

Interesting bottle! That is really small.

I have a few small bottles but they are still over 30 mm in height. Here is one of them:

An chalcedony bottle of rich honey brown colour carved on one side with a pine tree with some rocks. The other side left plain. Height: 33 mm.

Enjoy!

Dear Charll,
that is incredible, I think that not everybody do really realize how small is the bottle without a picture showing it in hands. For example, when I saw it I thought to myself "hey, I too have some bottle so small". But then I did check the size and the smallest ones are 40 mm, twice the size of your one!

Dear Charll,
I went to my ruler to see how small 19 mm. height is. Wow! Very nice.

All,

Now you should all be aware that such a small bottle was never intended for use and it is quite contemporary.  This particular fossiliferous limestone bottle is strictly a novelty item.  It came as a bonus gift along with a more expense bottle I purchased from a Chinese dealer.  I suspect this dealer had a number of these either commissioned or acquired a bunch as a novelty to pass along to his clients with the purchase of the more expensive items as an additional token or gift.  Interesting though how well hollowed it is, though limestone is not a hard material.

Just a little something to amuse, Charll

Dear Charll,
If it is well hollowed out that it could hold enough snuff for a few people to imbibe, why do you consider it "never intended for use" ?

This thread passed under my radar until just now. Yep, that sure is small. Makes some of those miniature peach stone bottles look like magnums!
