Hi friends

Just wanted to share this cool website I found:

http://www.colorschemedesigner.com/

It allows for contrasting, complementing or mixes of both...  Love it!

Enjoy....

Pat,

What a great find.
Only problem now is that I'm going to have to re-stopper all my bottles!  Sad

Yup.... it puts some if not a lot of the stopper combos in my collection to shame too!!

I tried it on some of my bottles, and it is amazing the visual effect it produces when you switch the colors based on the site.  Very happy I found this.  I hope it stays online.  I may actually download/mirror the whole site to ensure I have continued access to it.

Dear Pat,
thank you for posting the link, but, just to be sure that I am not missing something, I would like to know which feature are you appreciating. I think that it can help the matching in the following way: select, in the upper left corner of the screen, the option "triad". Then choose one color, for example blue. On the right side the big windos shows that the color matching are yellow and orange, which means that the suggested stopper should have a yellow collar and an orange top. Is that correct?
Thank you
Giovanni

Dear Giovanni,
I did not even get as far as trying out 'triad'. The first (default) setting deals with hues and tones that 'match' or blend. The second setting deals with 'complimentary' colours - that is to say, colours which are opposite on the colour chart.
It is this second setting that I believe is most helpful to snuff bottle collectors, although I think the 'triad' one will also work well, if used in the way you mention.

Regards,

Yes dear Tom, I agree that the second option is the most useful, I did mention the third one because it could include the collar.

Hard to explain here guys. You need to play around with it. I personally found the contrast  option the best .. it is all about personal taste I suppose.  Some bottles need complimentary colors others need contrast...

wow pat, I know it will work for matching stoppers and bottles in an attractive way...but also for an artist to use in painting. I have a color wheel, but this shows the colors and mixing in a whole new way, a gradual blending in so many degrees of color...FANTASTIC.
Thanks for posting it.

Guys,
I haven't figured out how to plot out stoppers using Pat's colour chart. Basically, I saw yellow goes with blue, and red with green.
What am I missing?

Dear Joey,
you are missing nothing, unless something is escaping to me too. For what I understood, it gives you the contrasting colors, so you can match a green bottle with a red stopper, exactly as you said.

So, once we know that blue, green and yellow go together, and red contrasts with green and can also work, what else does this teach us?

Joey

You can choose any starting color and go from there... Huh There are options to change the colors if you click on the colors inside the circle and then several other drop down options in the menu. Play around with it, you will get a hang of it.

Enjoy NewYork and say hi to Walter and Jo for me.

Dear Pat,
Can you you give me an example of how to use it? Like, give an example of a bottle, and how you'd match the stopper to the bottle.
Thanks,
Joey
