Hi everyone! My name is Sha and I am excited to learn all I can about these beautiful bottles.  I have always been a collector of Chinese art and I can be found ( any given day of the week) digging through piles of paintings at flea markets, thrift stores and garage sales!! The beauty of the bottles and the history that comes with them fuels my research and hunt for them Smiley I have never purchased one because I am fearful of the fakes and forgeries. The more I learn the more solid I will feel  Wink. I recently came across a batch of bottles while searching for art at a thrift store.  The bottles were purchased from an elderly woman who said they were part of her late husband's collection. I will post the images of the bottles and see what you guys think Smiley the owner of the shop is asking $20.00 a bottle. There is one bottle not pictured because the cork fell into the bottle, but it looks just like these but yellow...

Thank you for your time and help Grin
Sha

Hi Sha, and warm welcome to the forum !

I can tell that these are all resin molded bottles.. Not worth buying if you would like to start your collection off on the right foot..

Sorry about that, but keep hunting !!

I like to say how, "going on the hunt" is almost the best part of collecting ..  Like yourself, I to am always hunting shops, sales, auctions, etc..

Is there a favorite type of snuff bottle you like more than others ?  Stone, glass, painted, porcelain, etc.. ?

Hi Sha,

Welcome to the forum!  I was just like you when I came to the forum two years ago. Learned a lot from the experts here during the past two years,  I am sure you will like this place if you want to learn about the bottles.

I agree with George, those bottle don't have much collecting value.

Just curious, are you chinese?

Thank you for your reply! I guess the old saying is true, always go with your gut. I can't say I have a favorite type of bottle, I look for the art or craftsmanship and find beauty in them all.  what really gets my heart pumping is the history and research that each bottle will bring into my life  perhaps I will fall in love with a certain type of bottle like many people seem to do... We shall see where my digging and looking takes me

This is gonna be fun!

Hi Steven,

No I am not Chinese but always have been a collector of Chinese art. Also, I never and would never purchase art from an auction. To understand a little about me, I find no fun in bidding on a piece that already has the history laid out for me. I enjoy researching art and decoding a piece on my own. Plus half of the fun is the search and quest for beautiful antiquary.

Thank you for the warm welcomes!

Sha,
  Welcome from me as well.
   I don't know why George and the others are so negative about the bottles you posted above;
They look like the finest 18th C. Imperial plastic snuff bottles I've ever seen! And they were definitely made in China.  BAZINGA!
Seriously though, George and the others were spot on. But genuine old bottles are out there.
I don't understand your aversion to auctions. By and large, all the info is NOT already done for you.
I can understand not wanting the issue of a bidding war, but believe me, most auctions are not able to give more than ballpark info, etc.
Best,
  Joey

Dear Sha,
Are you still on the Forum? I don't think we've heard from you much since mid-Sept.
