Dear George,

Thank you for adding the location of the information. I didn't know how to.

Dear Peter,

I hoped you'd find the 'Tomas de Torquemada' reference amusing, but Richard seems to have got more out of it, based on response.

Dear Richard,

What is the reason for lack of reserves? Is it a way to draw in the 'punters', or are they not yet sophisticated enough?

Best,
Joey

Hi Joey

From my observations, many of these private online auctions are new and have a small customer base at present. Therefore, the 'no reserves' lots will attract more participation and support. Of course, it is also due to market competition and the seller's willingness to offer. Not all items are offered without reserve though, some lots have a minimum starting price to bid.

For your reference.

Regards.

Richard

Here is the third bottle in the set, Autumn/Fall, signed Lu Jianguang and dated 1995.

Enjoy!

Dear Richard,

This one is my favourite so far, but I'm still holding out for the winter scene. I love them the best - the snow accentuates the stark beauty of the landscape. And I don't have to trudge through it!  Wink   Roll Eyes
Thank you for sharing this set with us.
Best,
Joey

Hi Richard,

Please excuse my late response!

These are wonderful landscape bottles. So far my favourite is the summer view. Looking forward to seeing the next 'season'...

Tom

Hi Richard,

Well, I have to agree with Joey - winter scenes appeal to me the most. This is my favourite of the four!
Summer comes a close second.

Dear Richard,
A beautiful set! My favourite is 'Winter', followed by 'Autumn', and then 'Summer' and 'Spring' tied for 'third'.
But the set is wonderful. Congratulations,
Best,

Again, Thanks Richard for sharing the wonderful set!

I was waiting for the last winter bottle to decide which one is my favorite.Smiley Unlike everybody else, I personally like the first one "Spring" the best.

Congratulations!

Steven

Hi Pin

Hahaha, to each his own.

Yes, it's difficult to decide which is the favourite but I too like the Spring and Summer season in this set as they remind me of the ancient classic paintings in the Tang & Song dynasties.

Regards.

Dear Pin,

To each his own... But isn't it lucky you live in Singapore?  Grin
Best,
Joey

Dear Richard,

Thank you for sharing. I like the Autumn scene most.

Since ZLY's blue landscape, I think Lu JianGuang's come close.

I am still learning how to appreciate MIPs. Tongue

Cheers,
YT

Richard,

A beautiful set and in a style I collect, so I really appreciate you sharing them.  I too like the winter scene the most.

All,

I've been monitoring everyone's postings, but have been working far to many hours and weekends this spring and summer to allow me much time to spend on the Forum.  Once work slows later in the summer I will have more time to participate and comment.

A very worn-out Charll!!

Hi All

It's been a while since I last posted on this topic.

Here is a landscape bottle painted by Su Fengyi in 2009.

Each side is painted with a landscape copying Wang Yuanqi (王原祁), one of the famous four Wangs of the Qing dynasty.

Both paintings are done using only black ink except the red seal on each side. On first look, it appears to be a glass bottle but closer examination revealed that it is a natural quartz bottle with a few very fine hair inclusions (I found 3 so far).  Height: 70 mm.

This bottle is quite different from Su Fengyi's regular style of village landscape and I was told by the seller that Su actually wanted to buy back this bottle for himself.

Enjoy!

Richard
