Enoh,

It is a contemporary  interior painted bottle (less than 20 years old) which is produced for the tourist trade in what appears to be a leaded glass crystal.  The drawing of the design is likely a photo stencil in which the painter dabs the coloration over the stenciled design.  This is easily seen where the colors slop over the lines of the drawing.  Not much artistic effort is put into these types of bottles, but I will say it is not a bad looking bottle for its type.  Some of these bottles can be just awful, but this is not one of those.   Read this thread for more information:  http://snuffbottle.smfforfree.com/index.php/topic,1154.msg10501.html#msg10501

Hi thanks for the help but this was acquired sometimes in the 60s and has been in my family since.  I don't know much about snuff bottles admitted but the slopping of the colors over the lines ie on the bulls is intentional and a very common style during the reign of Kangxi.  I have to say the link you gave me provides a very distinct style, qing + ming spans over 600 years and qing dynasty alone exhibits over 10 drastic cataclysmic changes in stenciling, again I don't know how this is reflected in the context of snuff bottles but the difference is marked in chinese paintings for ex.  Anyway thanks!

And on a personal note the bulls are the most exquisite part for me!

Contemporary bottles with paintings like this are the result of an initial photo application of the basic black outlined images.. Followed by the sloppy application of colorings..

I do not have the expertise to comment on the intentional style of a sloppy application during Kangxi.. Will leave that to others more experienced..

The link is to the 'market place' theme of the bottle, not the age, which is copy of a portion of the referenced Chinese scroll.  Link: http://afe.easia.columbia.edu/song/pop/c_scroll.htm

See the middle of the top banner in black & white on the attached link.
