I like unusual snuff/medicinal related items like this..

I have not actually won it yet, and regardless of what the script may reveal about it's original use, am still going for it..

Was going to wait until I won it, but curiousity is getting the best of me, and would like to know if there is anything within what remaining script is showing that might tell a little something..

Help please  Smiley

George,
That IS an appealing object. It will be interesting to see what Steven, Richard, Inn Bok, (and Walter?) can tell you.
Good luck in winning it.

George,

Is that a swing-out prop attached to the neck, so it can stand up like a photo frame? If so, I have never seen anything like it before.

Really curious to know what the script says. I hope it's not something mundane like....
"Rat poison - keep away from children!"

Yes, it folds up close to the bottle, and or away like a photo frame..

Hi George,

that is a Japanese stuff, the scripts are Japanese, altho there are some chinese characters on it.

From what I can tell, its a antifreeze liquid bottle, could be for military usage judged from the color of the bottle...

I wonder why in the world such a small container would be used for antifreeze ?

Seems very odd, and the purpose for the stand is even more confusing when I think about antifreeze..  Huh

Would sure take a lot of these to fill your radiator !

George,
Could anti-freeze be used in smaller amounts, like for the engine on a motorcycle, or a small machine?  Were there small mechanised machine guns which could have needed anti-freeze? Just fishing here...  Cheesy

Ha !

Look what I found ...

JAPANESE GAS MASK ACCESSORIES. The carriers of most Army gas masks are provided with a packet of antifog discs (fig. 263), a container for antifreeze liquid (fig. 264), a hinged metal clamp for closing the air hose, and a cleaning rag. In addition a small cloth bag attached to the carrying straps contains a can of decontaminant powder. The antifog discs are carried in a thin, black, plastic box. These discs are used to cover the eyepieces when the temperature is below the freezing point. The antifreeze liquid container is either a flat square metal flask or a black cylindrical syringe (fig. 265) made of plastic material. The antifreeze liquid is applied to the inlet valve of the gas mask when the temperature is below the freezing point. Navy gas mask carriers contain an antifog compound in a small cylindrical sheet metal container and a cleaning rag.

George and Steven,

This is all new to me, and so very interesting!

It may not be long before someone hits on the idea of collecting Japanese military anti-freeze flasks, stoppering them with cork and spoon, then re-selling them as snuff bottles...........at a tidy profit.
