Glass bottles often fascinate collectors with their colours and shapes.

This is a Peacock Blue Glass Bottle of hexagonal form carved on both sides with a formalised hibiscus flower, the petals with curved edges radiating from the stigma, the shoulders scalloped.

Hi Peter

According to some dealers, this design is attributed to the Beijing Palace Workshop.

There is a similar dark blue bottle of the same design that sold for USD 9,150 at Bonhams last year including premium.

Go figure!  Cheesy

A transparent sandwich glass bottle of light brown background with darker brown speckles of various shades throughout the bottle.

This bottle has three layers, one inner transparent layer as the base, a middle layer (in this case with dark brown speckles) and an outer transparent layer. That is how the name "sandwich glass" is derived for this type of bottle.

I was trying to find a suitable past topic to share this glass bottle.

So I added ' continuation ' to this old thread. I bought this from a late goldsmith in Singapore. He changed the original spoon to one of gold ( from his own stock of gold ! ).

I am curious how the red portion was created originally. Any tips ?

This one was bought from the Hebei artist Zhang Zeng Lou ( 张增楼 ) during his trip to Singapore in the 90's. It was a reproduction of the original one with similar design from some Spannish coin.

Dear Inn Bok,
I can't help with the red glass, but the blue overlay reproduces a Carolus III (Charles III of Spain) 8 Reales coin. It always shows the head of the monarch on one side, and the Royal coat of arms flanked by two pillars on the other.
These, along with Maria Theresa Thalers (dollars), from the Austrian Empire, were common trade coin,  all across Asia, in the 18th/19th C., since they were solid silver. In the Middle East, the Charles 8 Reales was called "Abu 'Amud" ('father of the pillars') since it shows a pair of pillars and a male head. The Maria Theresa  was called "Um Sfor" ('mother of the bird'), since it shows a double-headed Hapsburg eagle and a female head.
