Books, catalogues, and journals are usually very expensive when talking about the subject matter is referencing snuff bottles.
I have been real fortunate to have been gifted books that would have been unlikely to have acquired otherwise.
Some of the most valuable and interesting of those books have referenced the connection between snuff bottle paintings and scroll, fans, and paintings that describe in detail, themes, scenes, and motifs.
The past few weeks started to search eBay books using search phrases like, Chinese art, history, scrolls, fans, paintings, etc..
Found a great many inexpensive "illustrated" books loaded with useful scenes, and motifs at prices between 10.00 and 30.00 that give good descriptions. some of the better and more inexpensive ones were found under, Books>Antiquarian>Collectible.
Just to give you an idea, here are a few examples of the better ones purchased over the past few weeks.
Chinese Painting by Mario Bussagli, 1966, 150 pages with 74 colored picture plates for $9.00
