Dear Steven,
I think that it is moss agate. As for the age, I don't know. The stopper looks modern to me.

Dear Stephen,

Agreed on moss agate, sometimes also called 'fern agate'. I have two modern ones from Mongolia that are made from very similar stone.

The shape of the bottle is convincing. It looks old, but may just be a good modern copy. Difficult to tell. You should examine the lip / mouth and foot, as well as how well hollowed it is up inside the shoulders. If it is modern, I think it would need to have been made in the last 10-15 years, as the 1960-1995 "moderns" tend to have a slightly clumsy look - not nearly so elegant. That's just my opinion...  Smiley

Thanks all for your help on the bottle!!!

I tend to agree that is a modern, but well made, I have more pics provided, it looks too new to me, your thoughts?

Steven

Nice one though Steven.  Looks new(er) to me but how well is it hollowed in the shoulders?  I have not seen many old bottles with the crystalloid inclusions that yours has.  That is why I am guessing that way

Hi Steven,

Thanks for the extra photos. In my opinion it is most probably modern. Nicely made. What do mean by 'well hollowed'? Is it light in the hand?
