Hi  All

Any serious  collector  of  Modern  Inside  Painted  Bottles  ( " IPB's" )  will  very soon  find  - as  I did  - that    essential  reading  is  J. H. Leung's  landmark book of 1990  : " A  New  Look of Inside  Painted  Snuff Bottles"   ( " New Look"  for   short)   This  details  the   collecting  history  of  Mr J.H.  Leung  in the  period   ( 1975? ) 1980  -  1990 .

Mr Leung was  a  very wealthy HK business  man , and was  totally dedicated to the  Modern School  of  IPBs.  So  he spared  no expense  to build  up what  must  have  been  THE  greatest collection  of all time  in the   world  of  Modern   School   IPB's ( The  Modern  School  IPB  equivalent of the  Bloch Collection  )

His book is  full  of the   detailed   histories  of  all the  current Masters  of  the  Modern  School, starting  with Wang Xisan himself, as well as  pictures  of all the  bottles Mr  Leung  collected.

Sadly Mr  Leung  died  in about  1993 and his  collection  was  auctioned  off.

J. H. Leung's book was  published  in both  English and Chinese  versions . The  English  version  has  a  few  extra  pages  of  very  late  additions to his  collection  .  But  both versions  are now  long out  of  print.  Sad

However  !    Second  hand copies  of the  English  version are   usually  available    via    specialist  second hand  book    websites, in particular  Abe  Books   www.abebooks.com .

Abe Books  links to various  other  specialist   art  book sites, in particular  Crunruh  Books

You can  easily google  these  sites . Start  with Abe  Books .  There  are  currently  3  copies  of  " New Look"  for sale  at  prices  between US$ 140 -180.    I have  dealt with both  Abe  and Crunruh and  found them   100%  reliable ( and also  bought  2  copies of  the English  version : one for   spare / rainy day )

So  if you want   your  own copy  of  "New  Look" , you now  know  where to buy a copy !

I have  high resolution scans  of both the  English and  Chinese  versions.  I am happy to  send  any collector a  copy of these scans   free  of  charge if  you  send  me  a   2 GB  memory  stick  and   a  USD 10 / EUR 10  cash  note (bill)   to  cover  the cost  of   packing and  postage .

You can  contact  me at  :  peterbentleyhk@hotmail.com

Hi George

Glad you   got the   stick OK

Don't know  why it  does  not  fit  into your   computer

It's a  100%  standard  USB stick  ( have you  put it in  the    wrong way up? )

Cheers  Peter

Hi George

Told  you  so !  Standard  USB    stick !   Just  push  hard  !

Yantai  is a   seaside   town  in north  east   China  ( home  territory  of the  Shandong / Lu  School)   where the  Asian   IPB  Collectors' Association   held their   2009  meeting,  together  with a  big    exhibition of  Modern IPBs   which  I think the  Yantai  local   govt  has  big  part  in sponsoring  , because  it  was  probably   THE  biggest  Chinese  IPB   expo  in the   past  5  years  ( maybe   ever? )

I have   a  diary  of  my  participation  in the  event, which I can email  you  privately  on condition you  never  copy to anyone else  ( because a lot  of  personal  stuff  in it )

Cheers  Peter
