I have been seeing this a few times lately.

Same exact thing.. Star shaped crack, exactly in the center of the base bottom.

Is this some kind of tell tail sign of age, type of glass or something ??

The first image is from a bottle I am watching up for auction.

Notice the same odd cracking on the amber colored bottle I just purchased too.

A bit odd that the cracking is just on the inside of the bottle, and does not come through to the outside of the base.

Makes me think this kind of cracking has something to do with the glass. Aging, type of glass Huh

The crack could be due to knocks or mishandling.

However, I am aware that some glass bottles made in the 50's and 60's by Shandong for inside-painting do crack after some time. It could also be due to temperature and humidity changes in the storage condition. However, the cracks are not limited to the base of the bottle but all over the body.

I know of a few collectors who have experienced such painful losses. I lost one inside-painted bottle by Chen Zhongsan (an old master in inside painting) due to this as well.
