Hi All in the   Forum

A little  bird  told  me  that the  ICSBS    2014  Annual  Convention   will be  in China    Wink

If    so, that's a   once-in-decade  thing  and  so  I'm   pretty   sure  that that   fast-growing  Chinese collectors   and  the   two biggest   MIPB  schools  -  Ji (  Hengshui and   Shijiazhuang)  and  Lu  (  Zibo/ Shandong)  will  lay on something  BIG .

So  if  anyone  is  planning to  come to  China   for that  occasion , whether  or  not   to join the  ICSBS    convention    things ,  that's  THE  time to  come.   By then  I will  be  fully  retired   and  so I will  be  free to    lead  Forum  members  in our  own  private  tour  of the   sights  of  China  ( including, of  course, a  pilgrimage to Hengshui, which is  a  3  hour  train journey   south  of   Beijing)   .   Just  get  yourself to     China  and   we  will    arrange the    rest    al  fresco  / ad lib

ALL  of the  best  sights  in China   don't need  organized  tourist   trips  :  they are best explored  on one's  own, or  at least   with a   few other  friends, staying at  budget  hotels, and   travelling  light.

Also : the   ICSBS    annual  convention  is  normally held  in   late October  , which is  the  perfect  season for   travelling  in China  : not   hot  but  not  too cold  (  sort  of  Mid- European / Mid  - USA   typical   Autumn weather )

So  IF  you   want to make  the   trip  of a lifetime  to  China,  October  2014  is the  time to  plan it

Welcome  all Forum  members to   correspond  with me   directly  on this.   My direct  email  is  on   the  Forum  registry.

Cheers  Peter

I'm tentatively planning to come to China Con.2014. Your suggestions sound great. I'll be in touch directly.
Thank you,

Hi Peter,

I am looking forward to visiting the convention in 2014 !

Jill told me that the convention could be held in not only in Beijing but also in Xi'an, although has not been decided yet.
I have not been to Xi'an yet. So I intend to visit there during my stay in Beijing.

Cheers

Guys,
It is always like that. I'll get the real story from Berthe Ford, and revert to you ('revert' is Irish legalese for 'get back to you').  Wink Cheesy

Hi Joey

When we used to use Telex to communicate with overseas offices, we frequently used an abbreviation "RVTG", but I did not know the word comes from Irish legalese !  Cheesy
Thank you for enlightening me.

Waiting for your information on the place for 2014 convention.

Cheers

Hi all

My latest    bird  tweets   are  twittering  :  BJ  +  Xian   ( no  Hong Kong  stop )

But  the  birds  all sing  in different    tunes

HOWEVER  :  Although  I am   a   fully  paid-up member  of the  ICSBS  I cannot  afford the   5-star  hotels  they  use  and  I    certainly  don't  have a  dinner  jacket  (  Tuxedo)  for the   formal   dinners.  I  now  wear  T-shirt and   slacks   to   every  occasion . So  I will  just  tag  along  with the  convention,  staying  at a  budget    business hotel  and  organize a  pilgrimage to   Hengshui  for   2  - 3  days    for  whoever  is  interested    ( 3 - hour  train   journey   from  BJ   -   or  if  we  are enough  guys  we  can  rent a minibus -   and  US$50 / night  hotel   once in Hengshui  )

There's  plenty  of  time  to    plan this  -  like   TWO   YEARS !!! .   And   for  anyone  on the   Forum   who plans a  once-in-a-lifetime   visit  to China  there's  a  lot  more  places to  visit  if  you  want to make a   2  or  even  3 - week  trip.  And  I'm happy to  be  your   tour  guide.

Main thing  is  to  get  that   time  slot  (  late  October  2014)    booked  in your  diary   and  start  saving  up  for the  trip

Cheers

Hi  again

"Revert"  is  the  most   commonly mis-used  word  in the  English  language

Its  actual  meaning  is:

1. to return to a former habit, practice, belief, condition, etc.: They reverted to the ways of their forefathers.
2.Law . to go back to or return to the former owner or to his or her heirs.
3.Biology . to return to an earlier or primitive type.
4.to go back in thought or discussion: He constantly reverted to his childhood.

But for   decades  'revert'  has  been  used  colloquially  to mean  :  " (I  will) GET  BACK TO  YOU  ( on this  matter)"

Thus  " I will   revert to  you"  =  " I will  get  back to you  ( on this  matter)"

Cheers   Peter

Question:
If REVERT means to get back to, does VERT mean NOT to get back???

One final thought:
It could also mean "to change back to green"...  Grin

Vert   vert   VERT  !

(  Question  :   does a   vert  x  vert  =   vert  or  revert? )

Peter,
I wear a Shanghai Tang suit from 1996, but I've also worn a US$12 monk's costume from the Beijing Opera shop, a monk's bag (US$1), and taichi shoes (US$2).
  It really is great fun.
