Hi Steven

Many thanks  for   your   instant  reply  last  night.

It  really  rocked   Yu Nong  (  Hou  Ying  Zi  )

Also the  bottle  by  him you  posted  is  -  IMHO  - one  of  his  best  I    already asked  him to  paint  another  in the  same  colour   scheme

The   whole   Forum  is   rocking  -  rock  around the   clock  !

Cheers

Peter  ( some what  the  worse  for  wear  :   last night  Pat  and  I  polished  off  2  bottles  of  my best  Italian      red  wine  just between the   2  of  us  then  a  bottle  of  French wine,  and then    we  started  on a   30  YO   bottle  of   whisky  which  I opened  in  Pat's  honour.  Let  me  tell  you  - Pat  is  one  super   SUPER   guy  :  the  kind  of  guy  one  rarely  meets  in one's  life, and a  privilege  to  meet.  He's  also   real  tall: 1.88  m    !  )

PAT  :  If  you  pick this  up - that  was   one  evening  I  will  treasure   for ever .  Love    from me  and  BB

Yes, that instant timing of your answer could not have been more shocking to Yu Nong!

Peter

It was a great evening, and I enjoyed it very much!  Thanks again! Your wife is very lovely and super friendly, as is your 'small' son (huhum)... lol...you never heard him speak so much English huh?  I had a meeting at 7:30 in the morning and I have to say I was still 'under the influence', my gosh...

All

Nothing like face to face meeting to further 'cement' associations and friendships.   BUT the forum is great!!!

Pat,
I agree wholeheartedly with your statements, but in reverse order:
The Forum is great, but  face to face socialising, sharing of knowledge and fellowship is even more rewarding (though, unless you tape the get togethers, the Forum is more permanent in terms of storing and sharing knowledge across space and time - darn this Asperger's, sometimes  Huh Wink).

Can you find out any information about Wang Bian from Taicang? I have been told the studio mark of Jian An (健庵) could belong to him. Sorry, I don't have any more details.

Tom,

Do you happen know the chinese writing of " wang Bian "and" Taicang", it will help me on the reaserch.

Thanks!

Never mind Tom,

I found the 王抃( Wang Bian) from 太仓(Taicang) , he is a poet who worte Poem 健庵集 (Jian an ji), but I don't think he is anything to do with your bottle, since he was born in 1628 and passed away in 1692, which is not matched with the date of the bottle.

Keep digging:)

Hi Steven,

I continue to be impressed by your detective work! No, obviously not the right person, but I can see why his name was suggested to me.

Many thanks!  Smiley

Found this one on ebay, can't find any info on the mark myself.

-Giovanni,

Have you seen this mark before "述远堂"? shu yuan tang zhi, I would guess its dated later 19th.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks!

Steven,

You showed me a 'list' of all the known Daoguang studio names. Is there not a similar list for late 19th century marks?
