Hi James,

One more thing I would share with you is that the craving of the figure, as we all know its always most difficult for carving figures or painting figures, and its a key clue to ID either painted porcelain bottles or any craved bottles.

The figures of the old carved one always looked vivid and freely, the figures on most of the newer ones are kind of  rigid, you can see the faces of the two figures on your bottle, they looked almost identical except one with beard and one without. which can not apply one each single case, some modern ones are as good as older ones, but I think at least its a clue for us.

I will let the experts here chip in and have their thoughts.

James,
I think Steven has nailed it re.differences between old and new Yangzhou Seal School bottles.
Best, Shabbat Shalom, Joey
Now, if he will learn the difference between 'craving' (desiring something or someone) and 'carving' (producing something of beauty by using a tool to scrape or grind a design out)  Grin Cheesy Wink

I have learnt a lot from the simple observation of 'sharp edges', so thank you immensely.
