Joey, the overlay is high enough but the center is not concave.

Dear John,

Could the indentations form integral snuff dishes in effect?
Best,
Joey

This small bottle [55mm] was in consideration for display at the Philadelphia convention. It has a nice red color and a thick white overlay.

Beautiful Yangzhou Seal School bottle, John.
I love the water buffaloes.
Ca. 1820 - 1880.
Best,
Joey

Joey, I agree you do not see many of them. This next example [55mm] came from my local auction in 2000. Maybe Richard can figure out the seal.

John,

The bottle with the 8 trigrams is very good and a rare subject.
Best,
Joey

Richard, thanks for the confirmation. This next example [54mm] is not an overlay but an applique. Very slight traces of glue. I wish I knew how they did this. I am thinking Guangxu

John,

I also have an 'appliqué' glass snuff bottle,
but of the much more common type with flower heads,
and connected to each other with 'threads' of glass.
Best,
Joey

Another unusual example with the 8 Trigrams [72mm]. Even the fish scales are reversed. From an internet auction in 2009.
