We look forward to seeing our snuff bottle friends as well as making new friends in Baltimore.  I wish everyone could come!  It is always a fun and educational event. This is going to be a very special convention as it will celebrate the 50th year of the ICSBS.  I am counting down the days!

Thank you friends for the concern you have shown for our safety as well as property in NC.  We only had minor damage to our cottage in Beaufort and are very relieved.  Many people in NC are still hurting badly and we appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers.

We look forward to it too, very much!  We did have some damage at our cottage in Beaufort.  It is too dangerous now to travel down to see the extent of the damage as roads are flooded between us and Beaufort.  They are projecting to get the power restored in 60 hours to 2 weeks! Ouch!  I will let all of you know more a bit later and do appreciate your prayers and concern.  Best.   Jo and David

Thanks so much Joey.  We so appreciate your prayers.  I am so overwhelmed by the snuff bottle community and the concern so many have shown us.  We look forward to seeing you in Baltimore in October.  I will let you know how things are going in NC.  We loved having you visit here in NC a few year ago. It is a beautiful state and we so appreciate your prayers.  Always the best to you!  Jo and David

So nice to hear from you Rube, David and I are looking forward to meeting you.  Thanks for your kind thoughts regarding the storm.  We are very concerned about this storm and it is touching that you thought of us at this time.  We are as prepared as we can be and are praying for safety and well as no damage to property.  We have a cottage in Beaufort NC and this is our chief concern now.  It is a historic property and we pray it makes it well through the storm.

Look forward to seeing you in Baltimore.

Jo and David

I wanted to share this cute dog bottle that was painted by Suo ZhenHai in Jan of 2004.  He is one of my favorite artist of the very modern period.  I love his animal, insect and landscape bottles.  The dogs look as if the are trying to decide what to do about the dragonfly that has their attention.  My dog would certainly pounce next!!!   Hope you enjoy this bottle!

So good to hear so many are planning to attend.  We would love to have dinner with the group.  Any of the dates work for us at this point.  Let me know which date suits everyone so we can put on our calendar before other commitments.  I hope we will have a good group for the convention and believe it will be one of the best!

Our Mid-Atlantic Collectors Group will have approximately 150 bottles on display at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore from September 30th to December 9th.  The museum admission is free to the public and a contribution is appreciated. It is a great museum and I would encourage anyone who is interested in snuff bottles to check out this exhibition if you are in the area during that time.

Welcome Brian!  We look forward to having you aboard.  Rick it is so good to hear from you!  I agree with you 100% about our friend Joey!  This snuff bottle group would lack a lot without his knowledge, willingness to share and his unique sense of humor.  I look forward to hearing more from you Brian.

They are both very nice bottles.  I am drawn to the squarish bottle because of the decoration. It is a bit unusual. I already have two in my collection very similar to the first bottle so that would be my choice.  You can not go wrong with either in my opinion.  Do let us know which you choose!

How much fun that must be for you and your brother to collect together!

Luke_your bottle is most unusual and I think the panels show a lot of attention to detail.  Great addition to your collection.  Inn Bok the two you shared are also very beautiful.   Thank you both for sharing these fine examples

Thanks Adrian.  You have a good memory!  The provenance of bottles is fascinating to me and adds to the enjoyment of  ownership.

Thanks for you kind comments Joey and Charll as I do value your opinions.   Yes, I was very sad to hear this about Mary Ann. This bottle is very special to me because it was hers and also because it is beautiful.   Charll, I guess I did not communicate with you that I had made  a commitment  to buy the bottle when I showed it to you.  I was thrilled when you liked it too.

Glass, of elegant spade shape, painted in famille rose enamels, one side with a gardener adjusting his shoe in the garden, beneath a pink magnolia with two wicker baskets filled with flowers, the other side with an elegant lady standing on a terrace, leaning on a side table and gazing into a garden at a bush and above, a window with a delicate screen.  The neck of the bottle is surrounded by floral motifs and the base has an iron red mark in archaic script Qianlong nianzhi.  I love this type of bottle and am thrilled to have a bottle that has been in the collection of Mary Ann Bresee.  She was very kind to me when I first joined the ICSBS. She died in 2017.

Yangzhou School, 1750-1795
Provenance: Mary Ann Bresee, Florida

Glad this group got together in Liverpool.  I saw some photos of the display of bottles.  It is always a treat when snuff bottle friends gather!

I know Susan was very excited about the terracotta soldiers as she mentioned it to me in an email last week.  I plan to share a new treasure that I purchased from her in San Francisco at the meeting there in May.  I hope all will like it!  Best Jo

I would be interested to have the list of hammer prices.  I did not bid but I am interested to see what some of the bottles brought.  You can send me a message with the prices if you don't mind.  I have the catalog and would like to add the sold prices.
