Dear Pin,
do you mean that the panoramic picture has been made through Photoshop by joining many pictures?
If yes, I didn't know that Photoshop was able to do that.

I agree with Giovanni, that I didn't know that was possible.  But I like how it highlights the continuous design on what I think is a beautiful bottle.

Yes.... the panoramic picture is the final product of joining 20 plus strips of pictures (using photoshop) taken at different angle around the bottle.

Very impressive - well done!

When creating a World Map cartographers always have a problem projecting our planet onto a flat plane, with the result that the higher latitudes (those nearer the North and South poles) get stretched out of proportion. The bulbous shape of this bottle should produce similar distortions near the neck and base. But I have looked at your continuous image many times and I cannot see any 'stretching'. How did you manage that?!?

Hi Tom :

There are probably 2 reasons :

1) First, the bottle itself is fairly "flat" at the 2 main focus.... the monkey portion and the eagle & Beast portion....

2) Photoshop has a fuction call "free transformation" which allows you to distort (to a certain degree) a pictures in basically the x,y,z direction... so using that and a lot of patient and trial, sometime even cutting out small portion of photograph to "flatten" it before joining them up together.... you can get a fairly good and flat image of a circular bottle

Really nice job! I know there is a feature in Photoshop under File>Automate>Photomerge that I've used once or twice to create a panorama from lots of separate photos stitched together. The results were really good, but I'm guessing with the contours of a SB never as seamless and with less warp than when done by eye...

Yes.... use photomerge for the initial few merge... but finally, will still need to use free transformation to "flatten" the image and join up area that photomerge can't figure out.

I love these panoramic views and appreciate the effort in doing them.  In my opinion it creates an added value in cataloging a bottle.  Beautiful job!!!

What a fantastic job! The panorama really shows the bottle to it's best advantage. You must have the patience of a saint to piece together so many shots. Bravo, a job well done.

If you have established a workflow, it can take maybe 8-10 hrs from taking pictures till end. But you will need to spend quite some time to set up the workflow and improve on it.... photoshop has many tools available and different people will prefer certain tools over the other to achieve the result they want.

Also, setting up a consistent way to take pictures will save a lot of time. I have a light box set up permanently with artificial light to take pictures, to ensure the consistency as much as possible

Hi Pin,

Many thanks for the extra information, you must have a tremendous amount  of patience  to complete the exercise.  Although I have been a keen photographer for 50 years or more, I have never gone down the Photoshop route. It is however fascinating as to what can be achieved.
