Looks like it is possibly a Liu Qiao signature. But whether painted by LQ or a YST student, I cannot say. I call this the "key" bottle that unlocks the mystery because it features his more typical type of paintings on one side, and the warriors on the other. It looks like Ming's bottle would be the second warrior bottle I've seen signed by him. I think the evidence is piling up! Thanks for posting this one... this may indeed be the missing link to many of the other warrior bottles that just didn't look like YST. Great.... Someone in China once told me that Liu Qiao continued painting until right before WWII (say probably until mid 30s given the Japanese occupation of China). I also think that they were done in haste in order to make a living, and unfortunately have devalued the "real" YST bottles by association. ;) |
