Title: need some help on Chinese script...
Post by: rosegl on April 24, 2015, 07:54:25 am
Hello,
not being able to decipher Chinese writing, I wonder if somebody is able to help me. These are most probably "tourist bottles" (the first two bought in the early 70s in Europe, the third and the fourth in the 80s in Hong Kong). Are these meaningful inscriptions? Thanks in advance

Georges

Hi Georges,

They are not bad bottles, I like the painting of the 1st one best, the boats are really well painted, altho it looks a little bit careless, but we can tell its from a very skillful artist.

1st one, inscript can be read" what I have seen by Huang He river, Painted in 1969"

2nd one" painted in the autumn of Wuzi" Wu zi could be 1948 , I have a little doubt of the date, it looks like a 70s bottle to me.

3rd one " The Tang dynasty Astronomer Zheng YiXing,Panted in Jiayin 1974 by Yu hua" The artist could be Zhang Yuhua

4th one" The picture of the horses, Painted by Zenglou in 1984"
The artist could be Zhang Zhenglou

These are definitely not tourist bottles Georges. They are very nice - I particularly like the first and last.

Can you show us the other side of all of them please?

Geoff

Dear all, thanks for your comments and your help!

Steven: no 10 was bought in january 1972, so it could be from the end of the 60ties or from 1970/71. But what would Wuzi then mean?

Geoff: I attach the back sides of the 4 bottles.

I take the opportunity to add a fifth bottle, bought in the same years (1975) but without inscription. Any proposal for dating?

Best,

Georges

Dear Georges,
They are all nice, but I still vote #1 and #4 as my favourites. The horses are wonderful.
Shabbat Shalom,
Joey

Dear Joey, "Danke für die Blumen" (thanks for the flowers) as one would say in German.
