Title: Silver with Enamel Snuff Bottle Post by: Mat on January 30, 2015, 07:22:21 am Hi again,
this is another bottle I have and of which I do not really know where it comes from. It has enamel painting on silver and is marked on the bottom. Is this one Chinese? The style looks a bit strange to me. It is marked on the bottom. The stopper is not original, I guess. As it has considerable wear, I think it has some age... Thank you again for any help! Welcome to the Forum. It looks like a interesting enamel on silver bottle to me, the metal work looks right to me, so does the enamel. It has a “正昌纹银” zheng chang wen xin(silver) mark on the base. I don't have much experience on metal bottles, will let other experts chin in to help you. I searched on baidu with the characters you gave me and found some similar bottles dated to the late Qing Dynasty ( if the automatic translation was correct). Does that sound ok for this kind of bottle? Many thanks again, Mat Title: Re: Silver with Enamel Snuff Bottle Post by: Joey Silver / Si Zhouyi 義周司 on January 30, 2015, 10:27:06 am Dear Mat,

Best, Joey Title: Re: Silver with Enamel Snuff Bottle Post by: George on January 30, 2015, 11:09:17 am Dear Mat, It looks ca.1950s-2015 to me. when did you get it? Best, Joey Yep, I agree.. This one is not exactly the same as the ones I see on eBay, but very similar. Title: Re: Silver with Enamel Snuff Bottle Post by: Mat on January 30, 2015, 02:27:05 pm Thank you all, I got this about two years ago, so that does not help regarding the age of it. Here is the link to a Chinese forum with a similar bottle I found, maybe it gives further information?

Title: Re: Silver with Enamel Snuff Bottle Post by: Mat on March 06, 2017, 07:21:11 am And another bottle with the same mark, I really do think that it is older than post 1950? http://bbs.artron.net/thread-460944-1-1.html .
And another silver item I found, http://bbs.artron.net/thread-222373-1-1.html , an identical one is dated also to the Qing dynasty: http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_6ddf276d0101dmm6.html , both with the "正昌纹银" stamps... I really tend to believe that my snuff bottle is indeed late Qing and not modern... Regards, Matthias Title: Re: Silver with Enamel Snuff Bottle Post by: George on March 06, 2017, 11:00:05 am I agree that those do appear to have some age.. But I am not experienced enough to say for sure the difference compared to modern copies.. I like them very much though, and could easily see myself bidding on them if they were up for auction..
By the way.. Thank you for that , "Jin Shiwen treasure appreciate" link... I bookmarked that one ! Title: Re: Silver with Enamel Snuff Bottle Post by: Mat on March 07, 2017, 05:10:23 am Thank you George, yes, it is an interesting link, I wish I would not need the automatic translation...
