Dear members,

I think it has so age to it.  What do you think?

Cheers,

Curt

Hi Curt !

I made the mistake of purchasing a very similar one thinking it was older... But like yours, it was not..

Curt,
Was there a typo? Did you mean, "no age" instead of  "so age"? In that case you are correct.
Best, Joey

Yes Joey.

Joey, other than 'feel', what features would distinguish old cloisonne bottles from modern ones?  i have heard people saying that the presence of small pits (like air bubbles) on the surface usually points to older bottles.  Is that true?

Cheers,

Curt

Curt,
Earlier cloisonnes do have pitting, but it is also the colours and the simple designs. My best advice is to look up genuine documented examples of cloisonne bottles from ca. 1750-1850, study them, and try to find one which fits into the group.
 Best,
 Joey
