Beautiful! Every stroke is full of character. This young artist has a promising potential, especially since you mentioned that he's always been constantly improving. Without seeing his earlier works, I think this is rather impressive. Thanks for sharing Pin, does he do any painting? Would love to see some...

Best,
Samson

Dear Pin,

Tie Ming's work is superb. What are the heights of the bottles w/o stoppers?
Best,
Joey

Dear Pin,

I like to do it in mm. So 78 mm = 3.07 inches. Wonderful size.
These are gorgeous.
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey,

Each to his own. To me, it makes not the slightest difference if someone gives heights in cm or mm. The two units of measurement are instantly inter-changeable in one's head.

But using decimal points on imperial lengths really throws me. I have never seen a scale rule which divides inches into tenths.  If you are going to convert 78 mm into inches PLEASE say 3 and 1/16 of an inch!  Wink

Dear Pin,

I can appreciate the skill of this artist even without being able to reading Chinese.

Best,
Tom

Dear Tom,

I blame the computer! When I typed into it, "78 mm into inches" it gave me 3.07 inches.
I didn't know that 3.07 in. = 3 1/16 in.  Cheesy
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey,

Typical "computer logic". I should have guessed!  Roll Eyes

That reminds me of a joke:

A computer engineer boasted that he had created a computer with an IQ beyond that of any human. "Ask it any question you like, and it will give you the most intelligent answer."

So, to test it, a man asked the computer the following question:
"I have two wrist watches. One doesn't work, and the other loses 22 seconds a day. Which one should I keep?"

A few moments later the computer printed out the answer: "Keep the watch that doesn't work."

The man and the engineer were both baffled by the response. So they asked, "Why?"

The computer replied: "Because the watch that loses 22 seconds a day will have the correct time only once every 17 years. The other one is correct every 12 hours!"

Best,
Tom

Dear Tom,

    Wonderful joke!
I will tell it on Jewish New Year, which starts on Sunday at sunset. I will be at different friends' for meals, Sunday evening, Monday lunch and Monday evening. And tonight, as well.
Thanks.
Seeing 3 1/16 inches reminded me of when I used to catalogue my collection on 5 inch x 4 inch filing cards, and give bottle height in inches. 30+ years ago.
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey,

I used to use filing cards for my bottles too! Except mine were 5" x 3 1/2"....  Grin

Believe it or not I was told that joke in 1966, and had forgotten all about it until you mentioned decimalized fractions of an inch.

Best,
Tom

PS: Wait till I tell you the joke I heard in 1976 !!!

Dear Tom,

The Bedouin say that revenge is a dish best served very cold (IE, wait until they least expect it and then -
BANG!), but I never heard of waiting 50 years to tell a joke! Impressive. Respect! (as Ali G would say).  Grin
What's the 40 year old one?
Best,
Joey

Dear Joey,

I didn't say I waited 50 years to tell this joke, just that that was when I first heard it. But it may well be 20 years since I last told it!

We have hijacked Pin's thread, so I will resist posting any more jokes here, before he gets upset.  Wink

Dear Tom,

The watch that loses 22seconds a day will have the correct time in slightly less than 11 years(10 years and 273rd day).

I was bored. Grin
