I have always liked these different types of horn snuff containers.

This one is described as a Scottish/Indian 19th century.

well here it is...buffalo horn or rhino? the light shows through in the thinner parts, it is fibrous and seems to be rhino but the carving is fairly crude which vies with that, I cant even put a country to it!

I should have pointed you to the Organic bottle area within the forum for this one.. Oh well.......  Wink

Interesting looking bottle, and it sure does look like horn..

I think what makes Rino horn stand out a bit more than other types of horn, is the darker color.

I know Ox Bone is much lighter..

Here is a good Rhino horn shot I found online (top). Looks pretty dark.. Then found several closer to the color of yours (bottom), but they were all listed as just "horn".. Could not find one labeled any particular type of horn.

Either way, I like yours !
